01 / The Brief & The Execution

The challenge with symbiote designs is maintaining readability amidst chaotic, organic forms.

When creating key art for a clash between two symbiotes, the primary hurdle is ensuring the scene doesn't devolve into an indecipherable mass of black and red tendrils. I needed to establish a clear visual hierarchy and striking contrast.

02 / Strategic Approach

To solve the readability issue, I engineered a highly aggressive lighting scenario. I pushed profound, inky blacks into the shadows of Venom while using sharp, almost blindingly bright rim lighting to separate him from Carnage's saturated, aggressive reds.

By focusing heavily on the negative space between their jaws and the intricate, violent details of the tendrils, I created a piece that feels alive, kinetic, and instantly recognizable to existing fans and new audiences alike.

03 / The Output

04 / The Impact & Real-World Use

This piece was originally designed around July 24, 2021, for the official Talenthouse competition for Let There Be Carnage. While it didn't officially take first place, the physical global market decided otherwise.

The execution was so visceral and aligned with the franchise's tone that major cinema chains in Mexico bypassed the official studio posters and printed THIS artwork for their physical theater displays. (See real world footage) It proved that "The Algothrim" produces studio-level execution capable of dominating real-world theatrical marketing.
